About Us

Nigeria-Arts.net, a project of Rakumi Arts International, works with Nigerian artists to provide the tools, training, and the vehicle to begin to harness the power of the Internet. Nigerian artists can exhibit and promote their work to both local and international consumers, broadening their audiences, defining new markets for their creative products, and networking globally through Internet and email access.

Artist participants of Nigeria-Arts.Net are provided with the tools and training to build their own dynamic web page with digital samples of their works. They are also given a personal web-based email account, through which they may be contacted and communicate to the world. Nigeria-Arts.Net works with all Nigerian artists: the entire creative community, either individually or through artist organizations.

Our development is guided by an advisory board of Nigerian artists and arts brokers as well as the participation of some of Nigeria's major arts institutions and guilds.

To join, artists must visit the Nigeria-Arts.net office in Lagos and register. Upon completing a registration, each artist will be provided with an email account and an appointment to begin working with staff to build their individual artist page.

The creation of this project was made possible with the generous support of the Ford Foundation Media Arts & Culture Program from the Lagos, Nigeria office. We are extremely grateful for their vision and support.

SITE ORGANIZATION:
The site is organized into four major categories, each with respective sub-categories. Because of the number, range and diversity of Nigerian artistic expression, you may find a wide variety of artists under the same sub-category heading. We thought this strategy was most conducive to browsing the site and learning about the greatest number of artists.

We welcome your comments on the project and would be delighted to add you to our mailing list. Please follow the contact link to send us your comments.
